Well the Power 90 has fallen off to the wayside. Hopefully we can pick it back up now that Stephen has started his new job, but tonight we did go for a walk as a family, then we got the talk with neighbors, adn Harrison wanted to be picked up, so now my arms feel like sludge because he's not the lightweight he was 9 months ago.
Overall I do feel pretty good. We walked down to the end of the new section of our neighborhood and back, but I honestly have no idea how far it is. I think we all had a good time. I taught Dev how to do the Peter Pan crow, so that's got to count for some calories, right?
Anyways...I'm signing off.

Discouraged
I have to be honest - coming into Week 4 I'm feeling a little discouraged.
Mike has already gone down a pants size, lost almost 10 pounds, and is rediscovering his jawline - whereas I have regained the 3 pounds I lost (although, I'm tempted to blame this on the GIANT dinner I had friday night still living in my gut Saturday morning when I stepped on the scale) and, although my size 18's are feeling a bit looser than normal, I have not noticed much of a different at all in how my clothing fits - with the exception of my belly getting less and less flabby every time we do that horrible painful ab-ripper sequence. ;)
While flipping through channels yesterday afternoon we came across the P90X infomercial and watched it for a good 30 minutes. From what I can tell most of your results come between day 30 and 60, and then of course between 60 and 90.
What can I say? I'm just impatient. I want it all now.
On a positive note:
Emotionally/mentally I'm feeling fantastic! I have so much more energy during the day, I still really look forward to the workouts in the evenings, and can really feel myself getting stronger.
When we first started I could hardly do 2 girl push-ups - now I can do 75% of the push-ups during the Sculpt workouts. The cardio gets easier every time we do it, unless I've eaten a bunch of junk food during the day. It is SO MUCH harder if you're not feeding your body right. This has been great motivation for me to eat right during the week. I still allow myself to splurge on the weekends - but I try to save it for Saturday nights or Sundays since we don't workout on Sunday.
Overall I'm really enjoying the Power 90 program - and I'm committed to the lifestyle now. I have to be. What would be the point of working this hard to just quit after the 90 days is up?
Mike and I are thinking we will do one more cycle of Power 90 after this one, and then switch up to the P90X workouts. I'm actually really excited for it!!

Tony Horton - You are going to have to wait
Today we went to the zoo.....it was 94 degrees at 10 am. Stephen, the boys and I sweated our way through the entire zoo. We visited all of the animals that Dev wanted to see (which was like ALL of them). Then on the way home Dev fell asleep. All 50 pounds of him in a dead weight....that I carried up a short set of stairs and then a full flight of stairs to his bed. So between the heat, the mile or so of walking, the heat, the carrying of 50 lbs dead weight for about 2 minutes, the heat, and finally the heat, I am counting all of that as my sculpt workout, because my calves were yelling at me as we walked back down from the Connecticut Street entrance of the zoo back down to other side where Parking Lot D is located....down right next to the petting zoo.
Done, and tired. My arms are hurting...I am blaming Dev for that one. :)
Have a wonderful Sunday!

Fail....
So Stephen and I should just start over on Sunday because we have not done the P90 at all since last week. Weekends really kill us. I'm hoping that by having our rest day on Saturday it might fair a little better.
On a good note though, the boys and have worked a little more physical activity into our days via the pool. We don't go to our community pool because they do not have a kiddie pool, but we have a tot pool in the backyard and I've been increasing my lifting exercises with H. :) Yay for small efforts :)

Holiday Weekend
So, this past weekend was a three-day weekend - and I am VERY proud to say that Mike and I kept up with our P90 routine like it was our job. :)
I'm really pleased with the (small) results I'm seeing so far and even felt comfortable enough to lay out in my bikini for a few hours Sunday and Monday. My belly is definitely toning up! Woohoo!
I started not just counting calories, but counting "points" a la Weight Watchers, thanks to my friend Holly and her extra points calculator she gifted to me. She lost 6 POUNDS the first week she was doing it, and that was without exercise! I'm hoping to get some awesome results like that!
An overview of beginning my second week of P90:
Sculpt becomes easier and easier every time, and seems to go by faster and faster. I can actually do about 5 push-ups per set now! Which, if you know anything about me, is really truly amazing. I'm still breaking a sweat 5 minutes in, so I know I'm burning those calories but it goes much more smoothly and it's really awesome to feel how strong I'm getting.
Cardio is still a bit of a challenge. Although the power yoga portion has become SIGNIFICANTLY easier, the rest of it is still quite a push. "Fast feet" and "side hops" are still next to impossible for me to do longer than about 30 seconds, so I do the "simple" version of those exercises and STILL sweat my butt off! The ab workout is still challenging for me too - especially the "full body" type exercises you do for the last 3 sets. I always thought I had super abs - but apparently not. In my not-so-super-abdominal's defense, the cardio makes for a pretty hardcore ab workout all on it's own so my poor belly muscles are all but worn out by the time we actually get to the crunches!
I'm really impressed with myself and the program so far and am really glad I decided to take on this challenge. I probably won't be posting daily as much since I feel like I'm starting to repeat the same things over and over, but I will definitely post at LEAST once a week especially now that I'm doing WW on top of the P90 if for nothing more than to track my weight and progress. :)
